Western Red Cedar is grown in North America. Heartwood is variable, from pale to dark brown, sapwood is yellowish white. Texture fine, but uneven due to the prominent growth rings. Grain straight. Western Red Cedar weathers well and is highly resistant to decay. Commonly used for cladding, external joinery, furniture, window sashes and frames, roofing shingles and shakes and boat building.
